How do you bring yourself to throw away books when they are cluttering your life but you still want to hang on to them

Easy - Don't

Don't throw your books away!!

Keep them close, close as your local library, that is.

I love my books. I try to read at least two or three a month. Sometimes that many in a week if I'm traveling alot. Paperbacks from airports, old hardbacks from used bookstore and new ones from Amazon. They start out as a new adventure and end up as friends.

I have, as you, faced the question of what to do with the dwindling space during a Spring cleaning a few years ago. Your local library is just the place for these treasures to find a new home. Not to far from home, in the off chance the urge comes over you to pick it up and read it again.

This approch will give others the opportunity to discover the joys of your old friends and public libraries are aways in need of good books. Uncle Sam will thank you too with an IRS tax credit on your donation.

So throw them away! Give them a new home close to home, Your local library.

GREAT advice Glbenoit!! I have at least 60+ cases of books I just can't part with!! But if I knew they were going to a good cause I could release my grip!! Blessings, Earth Angel!!

I sell books, I read books and I love books.

We use three different Libraries and are members of all three.

The rate I read books means that if I didn't have the local library I would be broke by now! But I had not thought of offering my books to them - good idea, then storage is somebody elses problem and I can borrow them if I need them!

Do you still have the books I gave you when you helped me move from Monticello to Sumrall?

I agree that books are prized possessions. I hate to get rid of them. But the library is a perfect solution. You can help others and still get to visit your beloved books if you wish.

I have a problem with favourite books too. At present, they overflow into boxes under the house.
